Business English
We'd like to know your views on our new magazine Business English, coming out in February 2009. Is it a good idea? Are you going to buy / subscribe to the magazine? What would you like to see in the magazine? What do you not want us to include? Be so awfully kind as to leave your comments here...
I think it's a great idea, what took you so long?
Business English is bound to be successful, because a lot of people do business with English somehow involved, but do not know the specific vocabulary and the little things that make a big difference in formal communication. And it is also very intertesting, so even if you do not plan to use it in your daily life (even though it should be mighty useful) it will be interesting in terms of language and culture. I'll buy a subscription if it's reasonably priced :))
Actually Mariya, we've been planning this mag for a very long time, we just haven't had the opportunity and resources to bring it out until now. I must say I'm very excited about it, I think it's going to be cracking!

It was difficult as hell. For subscribing at the post office I ought to know special code, but I didn't. As far as I'm very determined I went to Sberbank.
So, at Sberbank it was easier (if not count staying in a gueue for 30 minutes) - they've taken my money with pleasure and without any questions.
Now I'm sitting and waiting for February curiously but optimistically.
Nadezhda, sorry to hear about your problems...I've spoken to our subscriptions team and they say that you can't subscribe to Business English (or, indeed, Cool English until the 2nd half of 2009) at the post office...I don't know whether that's how you usually subscribe to magazines, but we've never claimed that you can subscribe at the post office. As you say, via Sberbank or by contacting us is the best way! So everyone subscribe to Business English! The content for the first issue is almost all ready and I must say that it's superb! Oh, indeed, Will! Who put this idea in my mind? Dreadfully sorry! I've looked more attentively at the rules of subscribing and have found that I can only send money (or postal order) for subscribing via poste office. And it was printed in black and white in clear Russian language... Shame on me! I shouldn't've been so careless with it! But I was trying to subscribe to magazine at the first time, "Cool English" ets.I usually buy at the bookshops ;-)
I think it's a great idea but I have a question. Since Business English is a vast area, what are you guys gonna focus on? Presentation skills, charts analysis, finance, accounting, banking, securities, taxes, all of that? :)
Alexandr: We'll be focusing on all aspects of business. Obviously the magazine is primarily an educational resource, therefore some of the magazine will be dedicated solely to learning. Apart from this, we'll be covering news and opinion, financial news including the global economic crisis, investments, credit, pensions etc. We'll also be including an advice section which, as you've mentioned, will include skills and tips for writing emails, CVs, presentations, networking etc. There'll also be lifestyle and humour sections. Basically, it'll bridge the gap between business magazines, lifestyle mags and educational resources! It's gonna be cracking!

Аm Really interested,cause I wasted my time,trying to find some kind of useful!) literature about modern!)business English..that could impressed my mind .But now I feel this edition is THAT)it can help me.-want to believe...no - I believe!

Alex: Yes, there will be a CD.
Will be interesting if William will describe his start of his own publishing business.:)How it was created. It'll be example how make own sucess business.
And I think will be useful for definite people to know more about how to lead, how to run maritime business (hiring crews,make transactions...).
